The District Administration is all set to ensure smooth and hassle-free paddy procurement in the Jalandhar District.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today chaired a meeting to review preparedness for the upcoming paddy procurement season. The DC reiterated the firm commitment of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to procure every single grain of the farmers.
Dr. Aggarwal said that as many as 11.18 lakh metric tons of paddy was expected to arrive in the grain markets in Jalandhar adding that the state government was committed to procuring every grain of the produce because it was the fruit of six months of hard work of the farmers. “Punjab Government has made all-out arrangements for the smooth and uninterrupted procurement of paddy crops in all the Mandis of the state”, he mentioned. He directed to ensure proper arrangements for lighting, toilets, drinking water besides others basic facilities.
He further added that there was sufficient availability of gunny bags besides proper arrangements for lifting. He appealed to the farmers not to set fire to crop residue in the fields as it would lead to air pollution.
He said that the district administration had made elaborate arrangements to ensure that the harvest of farmers was lifted from the grain markets promptly adding that farmer would not be allowed to face any sort of problem while selling their produce.
Meanwhile, he had a detailed interaction with the representatives of Aarti Associations and Rice Miller Association. He took their valuable feedback and assured them of prompt redressal of issues raised by them.
