Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today directed the government departments to intensify activities to strengthen the women empowerment initiatives in the district, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to achieve this goal.
Chairing a review meeting of different departments, Dr. Aggarwal highlighted the importance of activities such as self-defense training for girls, anti-eve teasing campaigns, graffiti art, pamphlet distribution, poster-making, and slogan-writing competitions. He also announced plans to launch a special drive focused on improving haemoglobin levels among anemic girls through the distribution of iron tablets over the coming months. He stated that this drive will yield promising results in terms of improving girls' health suffering from anemia.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive plan to execute these activities and leave a lasting impact on the campaign. He also stressed the need for an awareness drive for boys on the consequences of eve teasing, to prevent such incidents. He further mentioned that all these activities to be carried out smoothly to spread maximum awareness about this initiative among the masses. He also stressed the importance of coaching classes and skill development training for girls to further empower them in society.
