The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested an absconding drug smuggler wanted in a case of smuggling a huge quantity of heroin.
Station house Officer (SHO) Baljindar Singh accused had been identified as Manveer Singh son of Paramjit Singh a resident of Thatha village under Sarhali police station in Taran Tarn
SHO said that 6 kilograms of heroin worth Rs 3 crores and Rs 3000 drug money were recovered from the possession of the accused and his accomplices.
He said the main accused Gujral Singh alias Joga son of Jogindar Singh a resident of Boot village under Subhan Pur police station in Kapurthala was arrested on June 12 .2023.
SHO said that the accused were intercepted at a Naka at Mallian Kalan village in front of Gate Kang Sahib Rai village where they had misbehaved with the police to kill police personnel.
Baljindar Singh said a case under section 21-C-/61/85 of the NDPS Act and sections 307(attempt to murder )186(obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) 353(assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 279(rash driving) and 427(mischief) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused and third accomplice, in this case, is absconding.
