In a significant breakthrough, the Jalandhar Rural Police have successfully apprehended an accused t who had been absconding in a murder case.
The accused has been identified as Shubham, son of Lal Chand, a resident of village Slaicha, under the jurisdiction of Shahkot Police Station, District Jalandhar.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh told the media said that. the operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Subdivision Shahkot, Onkar Singh Brar, and Inspector Aman Saini, Station House Officer of Shahkot.
The case relates to an incident on April 29, 2023, when Balwinder Singh complained about the abduction of his brother-in-law, Gursharanpreet, and his daughter, Manpreet Kaur. The victims were reportedly taken to the residence of Buta Ram by Joga Singh, Buta Ram, and Shubham, where they were allegedly assaulted and forced to consume poison, resulting in their deaths.
An FIR was registered on April 30, 2023, under sections 302, 449, 364, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at Shahkot Police Station. While the other accused were apprehended earlier, Shubham remained at large until his arrest on August 31, 2024.
The accused is scheduled to be presented before the local court today, where the police will seek his remand for further investigation.
The police have issued a clear warning that all individuals involved in criminal activities will face stringent legal action. The pursuit of justice remains a top priority for Jalandhar Rural Police.
