The Mehat Pur police have arrested three migrant women and a Ludhiana miscreant on the charge of snatching cash from a woman.
Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar said that the accused have been identified as Ananya daughter of Siru, and Saloni, wife of Pradeep, both natives of Madhya Pradesh state, Bhavna daughter of Nand Kishore a native of Rajasthan state and Devinder Sharma son of Bhag Mal Sharma a resident of Bego Wal village under Doraha police station Ludhiana district.
Jasbir Kaur, wife of Maghar Singh a resident of Aadramaan village had complained to the police that she went to the Punjab Nation Bank branch in Mehat Pur on August 27, withdrew Rs 40000, and put money in her shopping bag.
She said that when she came out and found some unidentified women cutting her bag with a sharp-edged tool snatching Rs 40,000 and fleeing away in an auto-rickshaw.
DSP said the police utilized CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas to trace the movements of the accused and were able to follow the trail of the auto-rickshaw and arrest all accused.
Brar said during the investigation it was revealed that two of the accused had prior criminal records. Bhavna has three theft cases registered against her in two different districts, while Ananya has one theft case registered in Ludhiana.
DSP said a case under section 304(snatching)of the BNS was registered against the accused.
