Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal launched a special Cancer Awareness and Checkup drive for district administration women employees and their female family members in collaboration with Rotary Jalandhar West.
Lauding the initiative, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal called upon all the women members of his staff to take advantage of it.
He said he being a doctor understands the importance of Cancer Awareness including both breast and cervical cancer for our women folk.
The Deputy Commissioner flagged off the Cancer Awareness Van on this occasion. The van is fully equipped to do mammography and other related tests.
Advisor to the club, Dr SPS Grover announced free mammography of the women employees and their women family members every second Saturday for two months. However, he said the days may be increased, if need be. The check-up will be done at New Ruby Hospital on Link Road, here.
Senior Gynaecologist and President, National Association for Reproductive and Child Health of India, Jalandhar chapter (NARCHI) Dr Sushma Chawla addressed the women employees and taught them how they can check for breast cancer themselves at home.
She said that although this Cancer affects mostly women men should also be aware of as if a man is found affected that has very serious consequences.
