The Faridkot police on Monday claimed to have solved the case of murder of Piara Singh,50,a resident of village Dhabh Sher Singh Wala of Faridkot.
"We have cracked the case in less than 12 hours after it was reported to the police.The police have arrested Gian Kaur,the wife of the victim who has confessed to the crime during interrogation,"said Pragya Jain,SSP Faridkot addressing to the media today.
She said that police parties led by SP investigation,Jasmeet Singh,DSP Faridkot Shamsher Singh Shergill,incharge CIA and SHO Sadiq apart from the forensic team and dog squad team rushed to the spot immediately after the murder was reported.
"The police teams worked very hard on scientically and technical leads and cracked the case,in just 12 hours.We have arrested Gian Kaur,the wife of the victim who has confessed to the crime.The motif of the murder,it has come to fore during investigation that Piara Singh,who was a goat grazer had bad eyes even on his daughters.He was trying something bad to her daughters on Sunday morning when her wife came to rescue her daughters.A scuffle ensued and out of self defense and protecting her daughters from outraging their modesty,she attacked him with GHOTNA, a fat round wooden log to pulverize Masalas in old fashioned kitchen.It bled him to his death,"the SSP said.
She said that so far,we can term it a murder in self defense and out of passion.
"It was not a premeditated murder,"the SSP said.
"The police had registed a case of murder againt another unidentified accused,but so far,no involvement of anybody else has been found.If someone else was found to be involved,he would ve arrested too,"said Pragya Jain,SSP Faridkot.
It is pertinent to mention that Piara Singh had six daughters,out of them the three were married.
The other three were in shock,rather trauma to disclose something earlier,the police said.
The accused has been produced before a court today.
