Dr Pragya Jain,a 2017 IPS, on Saturday took over as SSP Faridkot.
Dr Jain was earlier serving as SSP Fazilka, a border district and has replaced Harjeet Singh,IPS,a 2010 batch officer.
Harjeet Singh has been transferred to DGP office (vigilance bureau) at Mohali.
“I started my career as an assistant superintendent of police at Mehal kalan in Barnala.The I was posted as SP(D)Khanna and Additional Deputy commissioner police Zone 1 and 3 of commissionerate police ludhiana (Headquarters) .Then I served as DC police(City)commissionerate police Amritsar and followed by as Senior Superintendent of Police Fazilka,” said Jain in a press note to the media today after assuming charge as district chief Faridkot.
She said that as SSP Fazilka, she launched”Mission Nishay '' to eradicate drugs from the district and the district police have been successful in arresting 350 drug dealers. Our greatest and considerable achievement was the recovery of 66 kg of opium in the district during my tenure in Fazilka, the largest seizure of the decade.
“Apart from it,I got the property of 20 drug smugglers worth Rs 10 crore attached in the district,” said Pragya Jain.
She further said that she also uncovered the Mathura and Agra gangs in Barnala and recovered intoxicants tablets and capsules worth Rs 3 crore.
“During my posting in commissionerate police Ludhiana,60 lakh intoxicants tablets were seized and when I was SP(D) Khanna,the police seized about 200 illegal weapons,” said Pragya Jain in the press note.
She said that due to her excellent service in the department, she has been given “DGP commendation disc many times.
She further appealed to the press and residents of the district to support police in the cause of delivering best policing and nabbing drug smugglers,peddlars,anti-social and national elements.
She said that no criminal would be spared in the district and police are committed to finish crime at every cost.
This is the second posting of Ms Jain as SSP after the first one in Fazilka.
