The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a travel agent for duping a man of Rs 48.44 lakhs on the pretext of sending him abroad. Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kulwinder Singh Virk who is the investigating officer in this case said that the accused has been identified as Balraj Singh son of Satnam Singh a resident of Talwandi Bharo village and presently living in Mota Singh Nagar Jalandhar,
Sourav Sharma a resident of Chuharr village had complained to Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police that he had paid Rs 48 and 444,000 Lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration abroad. However, neither did he was sent abroad nor did return the money.
DSP said a case under sections 420 (cheating) and 406(breach of trust) of the IPC and section 13 of the Travel Professional Regulation Act 2014 was registered against the accused and his brother.
