The Mehat Pur police arrested a drug peddler and booked a woman drug peddler woman on the charges of killing a youth by selling him drugs.
Investigating officer (IO) Jaspal Singh said that the accused had been identified as Jaswinder Singh son of Mukhtiar Singh, a resident of Beetalan village.
Gurdeep Singh a resident of Bangi Wal village complained to the police that the accused Jaswinder Singh purchased intoxicant powder from the accused Sukhwinder Kaur alias Goga daughter of Jeet Singh a resident of Gaunsu Wal village and sold the contraband to his cousin Amrit Pal Singh (29) son of Dalbir Singh which killed him.
IO said that a case under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 3(5) (committing the crime with common intention) of the B.N.S. has been registered against the accused and Jaswinder Kaur who is absconding.
Meanwhile, Jalandhar (rural) SSP HPS Khakh said in a statement that this be a warning to all those involved in the drug trade. We will leave no stone unturned in bringing to justice those who seek to destroy lives with narcotics. The law will be enforced with full vigour against such individuals.
SSP urged people, especially the families of the addicts, that they should take them to de-addiction centers and inform the police about the suspected suppliers.
