Sanyukat Kisan Morcha(non political) and Kisan Majdoor Morcha on Thursday burnt the effigies of the BJP government in Faridkot,as a nation wide protest,to register their protest against the Haryana government's move, in which the BJP led Haryana government has recommended the president’s gallantry police medal awards to three IPS and three HPS officers.
The Haryana government had, as per the media reports, sent recommendation to the centre for gallantry police medals to the 6 police officers who had allegedly stopped farmers from moving ahead on February 13.
The recommendation was sent to the centre on July 2, it has been learnt.
It had drawn widespread criticism from the farmers community.
“We strongly register our protest against the move of the BJP led Haryana government which has forwarded the names of the three IPS and three HPS officers for gallantry police medals to the centre, who had allegedly used the tear gas shells by using drones, fired rubber bullets and pellets guns on February 13,14 and 21 on the peaceful protesters marching towards Delhi.Every citizen of India has a right for the peaceful protest to express their displeasure and seeking the demands met. But the police allegedly fired even chemical weapons upon the protesting farmers which led to the blinding many, killing one Shubhkaran Singh and braking the limbs of one farmer Pirtpal Singh packing him into a jute bag, who had come to serve langar on protesting site.,” said Bohar Singh Rupian Wala, district president of BKU Sidhupur Ekta and Lal Singh Goelwala, vice president of BKU Krantikari.
“This is very sad and condemnable that the Haryana government has recommend the names of the 6 police officers for gallantry police medals for inflicting torture on its own people in Sambu,Khanouri and Tikri border.Even the British goverment had, instead of promoting General Odwyer, for Jallaian Wala Bagh massacre, removed him from his service,” alleged Bohar Singh and lal Singh speaking to the media persons after burning effigies.
The farmer leader has appealed to the president of India and Supreme court of India to take suo moto notice of this incident so that the men behind the killing, injuring and blinding of the peaceful protesters can be brought to book.
