Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal chaired a comprehensive review meeting on Friday at the Guru Gobind Singh Stadium to finalize preparations for the upcoming district-level Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2024.
Emphasizing the importance of the event, Dr. Aggarwal stated that Independence Day would be celebrated with patriotic fervor, paying tribute to the freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifices during the struggle against British rule.
Dr. Aggarwal stressed that the celebration of Independence Day is a collective duty and encouraged the community to participate in large numbers. “This event not only marks our country's independence but also serves as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of our freedom fighters,” he said.
During the meeting, Dr. Aggarwal meticulously reviewed various arrangements to ensure the event proceeded smoothly.
He asked the HODs to submit the recommendations to facilitate the employees for distinguishing services till August 7 as the administration will not entertain the recommendations received after that.
He also made it clear that the officers /employees would be facilitated in the last two years on Independence Day /Republic Day functions, their names will not be entertained for award this time.
It was also decided that rehearsals will start on August 5 as the full dress rehearsal will take place on August 13.
Key aspects discussed included traffic control, parking arrangements, and the deployment of police forces to maintain law and order.
He also reviewed the availability of drinking water, refreshments, and proper flag-hoisting arrangements.
Other logistics covered in the meeting included the march past by security forces, the performance of the police band, and the installation of a high-quality sound system.
Dr. Aggarwal also discussed the setup of the VIP gallery and the decoration of chowks and roads leading to the venue.
Additionally, stage decoration, the deployment of health teams, transportation facilities for students, PT shows, and cultural performances by students were reviewed. Ensuring an uninterrupted power supply was also highlighted as a critical aspect of the preparations.
Dr. Aggarwal directed all concerned departments to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to ensure the Independence Day celebrations are unparalleled.
He urged the officials to perform their duties diligently to carry out this gala event seamlessly, underscoring the importance of meticulous planning and execution.
