The Lohian Khas police have booked two Kapurthala district residents for the illegal excavation of earth near Dhussi Bandh of River Sutlej.
Investigating Officer (IO) Avtar Singh said the accused have been identified as Kuldeep Singh and Sharajit Singh residents of Bharoana village under Kabir Pur police station in Kapurthala.
Mining inspector Nakodar /Shahkot Ajay Kumar had officially communicated to the police said illegal excavation of earth from Dhussi Bandh of Sutlej in Mandala Chhana village near Dhussi Bandh was reported.
He had said the president of the flood stoppage committee in Giddpindi village Kulwinder Singh had phoned the department about the illegal excavation of earth in village Mandala which was damaging Dhussi Bundh and had created a danger of a breach in Bandh in the coming monsoon season and Kuldeep Singh and Sharajit Singh residents of Bharoana village under Kabir Pur police station in Kapurthala were indulging in illegal mining of earth without any permission.
The Investigating Officer said a case under Section 21 of the Punjab Mines Act 1957 was registered against the accused in June 2024.
