Faridkot
Bharti Kisan Union Sidhupur Ektas on Sunday demanded stern action against the officials of one cooperative agency for supplying the substandard DAP fertilizer through cooperative societies.
The samples of the DAP, which was supplied to the co operative societies before paddy season were taken during the “election code of conduct” and about 60 per cent samples have failed the test.
“The agriculture minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian has submitted a report to the chief minister Bhagwant Mann. Now we want the chief minister to ensure the strongest action against the officials who supplied and sold the substandard fertilizer to the farmers through societies. Both the supplier and distributors are cooperative entities and farmers must be compensated for their loss,” said Bohar Singh Rupian Wala and Sukhdev Singh, district presidents of Faridkot and Muktsar of BKU(Sidhupur-Ekta) in a joint press note today.
“We are apprehensive that there are some efforts to influence the CM from taking action against the erring officers of the agency and matter be pushed under carpet,” they alleged.
