Woman travel agent arrested for duping Shahkot villager of Rs 43 lakhs.

 

SHAHKOT

The Shahkot police have arrested a woman travel agent on a charge of duping a Shahkot village resident of Rs 43 on the pretext of sending him abroad.

 Deputy Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Vijay Kanwar Pal, who is investigating this case, said that the accused had been identified as Ranndeep Kaur alias Rajwinder Kaur daughter of Mohan Singh a resident of Punia Mand village under Shahkot police station and wife of Pushpinder Singh a resident of Behak village under Makhu police station Moga district.

Sodhi son of Gurdial Singh a resident of Lasoorri village had complained to Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) that he paid Rs 43 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration to Canada. However, he was neither sent abroad nor returned the money.

 

DSP said a case under section 406(breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act was registered against the accused in July 2023 and her brother Nirmal Singh who was arrested earlier.
