Deputy Commissioner reviews progress of ongoing development projects under Jalandhar Smart City Initiative

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal reviewed the progress of various ongoing development projects under the Jalandhar Smart City initiative today. He directed officials to accelerate the pace of these projects to ensure their completion within the stipulated timeframe.

During a meeting at the District Administrative Complex with Commissioner Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Gautam Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh, and other officials, Dr. Aggarwal reviewed the status of development projects and other works being carried out under the Smart City initiative. He noted that 45 development works worth Rs. 179 crore have been completed, and work is ongoing on six major development projects worth Rs. 645 crore. Additionally, eight deposit works assigned to other departments are also progressing.

Dr. Aggarwal highlighted that the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) project under the Smart City initiative is nearly complete and will soon be fully operational, which will aid in city surveillance and traffic management. He also mentioned that the modernization of Mithapur Stadium is also nearing completion.

Reviewing the beautification project of Kala Sanghian Drain, he emphasized the importance of regular monitoring to ensure timely completion. Dr. Aggarwal also reviewed the current status of other projects, including the Burlton Park Sports Hub, bio-mining solid waste management at Wariana, and the 24X7 surface water supply project, stressing the need for their early completion for public convenience.

Officials of the Smart City project informed the Deputy Commissioner that the re-tendering for the bio-mining project at Wariana has been completed, and work orders will be issued within 20 days. The project is expected to be completed within two years after commencement.

Dr. Aggarwal also reviewed the progress of development works being carried out under various schemes by the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation and Nagar Councils. He directed officials to prioritize and complete infrastructure-related development works for public convenience.

He further instructed officials to ensure the installation of necessary lights, appropriate signage, planting of saplings, cleanliness, and security at Burlton Park. He also emphasized the timely submission of utilization certificates for completed development works.

Officials from the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation, including Gurbaksh Singh, in charge of the Jalandhar Smart City Project, and the Nagar Council executive officers were also present.
