Travel agent booked for duping man of Rs.15 lakhs

 

SHAHKOT

 The Shahkot police have booked a travel agent for allegedly duping a man of Rs 15 lakhs on the pretext of sending his son abroad.

Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amandeep Singh, the investigating officer in this case said that the accused had been identified as Vikash Sharma son of Jasdeep Sharma, a resident of Parkash Avenue—Kapurthala City.

 Balwant Singh a resident of Puniyan village had complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that he had paid Rs 15 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his son’s migration abroad. However, neither did he was sent abroad nor did return the money.

 

DSP said a case under section 420 (cheating) 406(breach of trust) of the IPC and section 13 of the Travel Professional Regulation Act 2014   had been registered against the accused after an inquiry adding that the case has been registered under IPC as an incident happened some time ago.
