Adopt new technologies for making farming profitable: DC

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal urged farmers to adopt new farming technologies to bolster the state's socio-economic growth.

Addressing a district-level farmers training camp and exhibition on monsoon crop sowing and groundwater preservation along with PSEB Principal Prem Kumar's vice chairman, Dr. Aggarwal emphasized farmers' vital role in the state's economy and the country's food supply.

Dr. Aggarwal highlighted the importance of making farming a sustainable and profitable profession through the use of the latest agricultural technologies.

He assured the farmers that the Punjab Government is dedicated to supporting this initiative.

"The government is already assisting with modern farming machinery, seeds, technologies, weather forecasts, and pesticide use," Dr. Aggarwal noted.

He emphasized the urgent need for crop diversification to conserve groundwater and called on farmers to stop stubble burning to protect the environment.

He announced the "Vatavarn de Rakhe" award, rewarding panchayats and individual farmers for best practices in crop residue management.

Panchayats with zero stubble burning will receive development work worth Rs. One lakh outstanding individual farmers will be honoured at the district-level Republic Day event.

Dr. Aggarwal stressed the ample availability of crop residue management machinery and urged all farmers to join hands with the government in this noble cause. 

Senior AAP Leader and vice chairman of PSEB , Principal Prem Kumar commended the agriculture department for organizing the camp, which provides crucial information on crop management and environmental protection. He announced that more such camps would be held at the block level.
