Deputy commissioner Faridkot, Vineet Kumar on Monday has imp;osed a ban on the sale of the Pregabalin salt(tablets and capsules above 75 mg) without the prescription of the medical practitioner.
He has imposed the ban under section 144 of CrPC which would remain in effect till August 28.
The DC has directed all the chemists and druggists not to sell the Pregabalin salt without the prescription of the doctor.
"Even it must be ensured to keep the record of the tablets sold to any patient on the prescription of the doctor. THe chemists must maintain its record and also ensure that the patients may not buy the tablets on the same prescription from other medical stores," the DC said.
The DC said that it has come to his notice that some people use this salt as an intoxicant drug and the government is committed to eradicate the drugs from Punjab.
"So it is ensured by the complete ban on the salt above 75 mg that it does not go into the hands of the drug addicts," he said.
What is Pregabalin
Pregabalin that comes into the dosage of 25 to 300 mg is used to treat neuropathic pain caused by some diseases, or spinal cord injury.
The drug works by blocking the pain signals from the central nervous system.
