The Nakodar Sadar police have booked the husband of a woman for dowry harassment.
Investigating officer (IO) and Uggi police post in-charge Balbir Singh said that the accused had been identified as Satwinder Singh a resident of Lakhnoti village in Saharan Pur district, UP.
Iqbal Singh a resident of Uggi village complained to the police that the accused harassed his daughter Mandeep Kaur for bringing more and more dowry and mentally torched her beating her and throwing her out of her home.
IO said that a case under section 406(breach of trust) 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused after an inquiry adding that the that the incident occurred in the past therefore case is registered under IPC.
