The Shahkot police have arrested a woman travel agent for duping a Shahkot resident of Rs.13.75 lakhs on the pretext of sending him abroad.
Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amandeep Singh who is the investigating officer (IO) in this case said that the accused was identified as Rajnish Kaur alias Rajni Bala wife of Neeraj Attar a resident of Baba Bahadar Nagar, Ludhiana
Sahbi resident of Mohalla Gobind Nagar Shahkot had complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he had paid Rs 13.75 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration to Canada, but he was not sent abroad nor returned the money.
IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act was registered against the accused after an inquiry.
