In view of the Nagar Kirtan organized to mark the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, District Magistrate -cum- Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal has ordered that all meat and liquor shops falling on its route will remain closed on November 25.
Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC), 1973 District Magistrate has ordered that all the liquor and meat shops on the route remain shut. He said that the decision had been taken on account of the religious importance of the Nagar Kirtan.
Sarangal added that the opening of the meat and liquor shops on the route could create major law and order problems by hurting religious sentiments.
