Former revenue minister and senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia has sharply criticized the Agniveer policy for not providing military honour and Ambulance to first martyr recruited under the Agniveer scheme.

On the social media platform X, Majathia has written today,”It is most tragic and unfortunate to see that due to the Modi government's new Agniveer policy, first martyr of the country, only 19 years old Amritpal Singh was not even provided army ambulance to bring his sbody home.It is most shameful to note that even customary guard of honour was not provided to martyr. This is most shameful policy country has even witnessed after independence.we completely rejected Agniveer scheme."

It is pertinent to mention that Amritpal Singh,19, a resident of village Kotli Kalan of Mansa was killed on duty in Jammu and Kashmir.

He had joined his duty just one and half months back.

Social activist Manik Goyal, from Mansa district also flayed the policy.

“This is sad that his body was brought to the village by his family in a private ambulance not in an army vehccile. No army unit was present at his cremation and no army guard of honour was provided to him,” wrote Maanik Goyal on social media platform X.

The martyr was given guard of honour by local police.
