Khatkar Kalan (SBS Nagar): On the 115th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, his native village Khatkar Kalan was illuminated with lights and evoked patriotism in the hearts of the people. The people paid homage to the legendary freedom fighter of the country in his ancestral house and museum.

In daytime, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann presided over state level function to commemorate the 115th birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and in the evening, the administration with the support of North Zone Cultural Center, Patiala and Punjabi University, Patiala, celebrated the occasion by organizing poetic and theatrical shows, Bhangra, Malwai Gidha based on the patriotism which stroke a chord with the people.
Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said that the greatest martyr of the country Shaheed Bhagat Singh was remembered through various cultural events and presentations. He said that the land of Khatkar Kalan still holds the memories of the martyr. He said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was a hero of youth and their massive participation in these programs show their love and respect for the martyr.

The marathon and cycling events also received encouraging responses from the youths. A candle march led by the Deputy Commissioner NPS Randhawa and SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena,  was also organized to the statue in the museum and to the ancestral house.

The Candle March to Museum and Ancestral house was also attended by the AAP leaders Lalit Mohan Pathak, Kuljit Singh Sarhal and District President Satnam Jalalpur.

Prominent among present on the occasion included ADC Amardeep Singh Bains, SP Dr Mukesh Kumar, SDM Shivraj Singh Bal, SDM Gurleen Sidhu and others.
