Harbhagwan Singh,35,a member of anti drug panel, of village Dhilwan Khurd was allegedly shot dead in the presence of village Panchayat on Friday by an alleged drug smuggler.
The village haad formed an anti drug pannell just two days before the incident with the consent of the village panchayat aiming to stop the drug smuggling in the village.
The incident took place when the anti drug panel members nabbed three drug addicts with the help of the villagers and they confessed to the village people that they had links with Amandeep Singh and had bought the drug(chitta) from him.
"The people started gathering and Amandeep Singh and others threatened to reach the spot. They reached the spot and after some heated exchange of words, he shot Harbhagwan Singh dead. The bullet pierced through his chest leaving him dead before reaching the hospital.The accused fired many bullets and also fired some shots from his rooftop too before fleeing," said a village resident.
Harbhagwan Singh was working as an electrician in the village and is survived by two children, 10 years old daughter and son.
The police have arrested Amandeep Singh and two women wanted in the case today.
A case has been registered against Avtar Singh alias Tara son of Gurnam Singh, his wife Ramandeep kaur, son Gursharan Singh and Amandeep Singh son of Gurpreet Singh, Kulwinder Kaur wife of Gurpreet Singh, all residents of village Dhilwanl Khurd village on the complaint of Budh Singh son of Sher Singh, the father of the deceased at police station Sadaq under sections 302,506,148,149 of IPC besides 25,27,54,59 of armas act.
