Lakhowal removed from BKU's president ship's post

MOGA: During a state-level meeting at Moga on Tuesday, hundreds of office bearers as well as active workers of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) has ‘sacked’ Ajmer Singh Lakhowal as president ship of BKU and announced the Harmeet Singh Kadian as new president of the union.


It may be mentioned here that two days ago, Lakhowal was visited at Moga and announced unconditional support to ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in upcoming assembly election in the presence of Punjab agriculture minister Jathedar Tota Singh.

Nirmal Singh Manuke, district president of Moga said, in the presence of 12 district presidents as well as senior state-level office bearers, “The governance body of BKU would decide that the union members would support to any political party during the next few days. However, the delegates have removed Lakhowal from president ship with immediate effect.


“Lakhowal did not work infavour of the Punjab’s farmers, however, he used the union’s strength infavour of self development. Now we have decided that the union will not allow to anybody for using union’s name to any office bearer of the BKU,” said Manuke.


Union leader further added, “We have appointed other office bearers of the BKU like Gurmeet Singh Golewla as general secretary, Sukhjinder Singh Khosa as vice president, Sukhmeet Singh Kadian as president of religious wing, Sukhminder Singh Uguke and Satpal Singh Butter as members of state-level committee.”
