Henry organises “Show of Strength” to demand Congress ticket for his son

JALANDHAR: Becoming ineligible to contest election due to deletion of his vote from voters’ list, former cabinet minister and senior congress leader Avtar Henry today organised ‘show of strength’ to demand ticket for his son Junior Avtar Henry (Bawa) from Jalandhar (North) assembly segment.

In an impressive gathering of Henry’s supporters, several councillors and ex-councillors extended support for Henry and demanded allotment of ticket of his son Bawa Henry.

The gathering was arranged in the compound of Avtar Henry’s Kartar Transport Company office.

It is pertinent to mention here that Henry was denied ticket due to the issue of dual citizenship which caused deletion of vote from the constituency and now his son Bawa Henry is front runner for the congress ticket, apart from former Jalandhar Improvement Trust, Chairman Tajinder Singh Bittu.

Bittu is having strong clout on the senior leadership of Congress and may fetch the ticket from Jalandhar (North) assembly segment, sources said.
