ECI allows Tikka and Yadvinder Singh to contest elections

Punjab Tribune Bureau | December 23, 2016 06:58 PM

Chandigarh : The Election Commission of India has allowed Gurpartap Singh Tikka and Yadvinder Singh to contest the elections. Earlier both were disqualified by the ECI to contest any Parliament or Vidhan Sabha elections as they failed to submit the requisite details regarding Expenditure.

In a statement issued here today a spokesperson of the ECI said that both these candidates were prohibited to take part in the electoral procedure under section 11 of Representation of the People Act, 1951.

Both Gurpartap Singh and Yadvinder Singh approached the ECI, represented their case and filed an affidavit also. After minutely  examining the documents submitted, the ECI has  issued the renewed directions allowing them to contest elections , thereby cancelling the earlier order issued on June 7, 2016 regarding disqualifying  them to contest elections.
