New Delhi: Haryana Government is contemplating to prepare bio-fuel from stubble and for this talks are on with various companies. Besides, the government will also provide agriculture implements to the farmers on subsidized rates to keep a check on the practice of burning paddy stubble in the State.
This was stated by Chief Minister Manohar Lal while interacting with the media persons after the meeting of Nation Capital Region (NCR) Planning Board held under the Chairmanship of Union Minister of Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu at Vigyan Bhawan here today.
The meeting which was organized regarding various steps taken by the states on pollution control was also attended by Minister of State (Independent Charge) Planning and Urban Development Rao Inderjit Singh, Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister Rao Narbir Singh and representatives of government of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi.
He said that agriculture implements to be provided by the government would help the farmers in collecting paddy straw which could be utilized in other activities later on. He said that the State Government is contemplating on preparing bio-fuel from the stubble and is in constant touch with various companies in this regard. Apart from this, farmers were being made aware not to burn paddy stubble, he added. He said that with the use of paddy stubble, farmer’s income could be significantly increased.
The Chief Minister said that the construction work of Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway has already been started and it would significantly help in reducing the vehicular pressure on National Capital Delhi. He said that movement of vehicle has been started between Palwal to Manesar part of the expressway whereas; the construction work of Kundli to Manesar stretch would be completed at the earliest.
He said that discussion was also held in the meeting regarding definition of Forest and Aravalis and issues concerning NCZ. He said that the process has been expedited in related cases. He said that various effective steps have been taken by the State Government towards pollution control.
Haryana Chief Secretary, D.S Dhesi gave a presentation on various issues relating to pollution control and NCR Planning Board. He said that provision of green belt has been made alongside all express ways, national highways, state highways and railway lines passing through Haryana. He said that with a view to give boost to public transport system in NCR Area, Gurugram Development Authority (GDA) has prepared a plan to purchase 500 CNG buses. Apart from this, CNG run NCR Motor Cab (Taxi) Scheme has also been prepared. For this, he suggested that CNG filling stations should be opened in NCR area and on National Highways and State Highways. Dhesi also informed about various other steps taken by the State Government.
