JALANDHAR: While the stage of the battle of ballot is yet to be set, but candidates of all key political parties in Jalandhar Cantonment are facing dissidents from thier respective the colleagues, which left the political experts confused to judge: who would be the winner?

Ruling SAD has fielded Sarabajit Singh Makkar from the constituency and from the day one he is facing revolt by none other than the President of District unit of SAD, who is adamant not to reconcile with Makkar and even opted not to have parleys with the SAD’s President and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, who was camping here for night here, just to pacify him

Situation turned more volatile when Sukhbir Badal said, if Channi is adamant then he would have to take a final decision and decide whether he wants to be turned into “Solid Waste” (Kachra) of SAD.  Channi even did not bother the ‘strong comments’ against him by party Chief and continued his tirade against Makkar.

Makkar had a reason to take long breath for relief, as one of the prominent dissidents, Paramajit Singh Raipur has been lured by Sukhbir Badal by giving him a “Lollypop” of Chairmanship of Jalandhar Improvement Trust (JIT).

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Candidate HS Walia is also facing threat from the within the party, as nine of the prominent volunteers, have raised a banner of revolt against him and threatened to campaign against him, if he would not be changed with any of the other capable candidate.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Candidate HS Walia is also facing threat from the within the party, as nine of the prominent volunteers, have raised a banner of revolt against him and threatened to campaign against him, if he would not be changed with any of the other capable candidate.

Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh travelled all the way to Jalandhar recently to pacify the rebel volunteers, but they all were having a single demand: Change the candidature of Walia.

Sanjay Singh bought time till December 20 to settle the issue,  but it seems that party would not change the candidate and Walia would be left with a ‘herculean task” to tackle his own party leaders, before initiating campaign in the constituency.

As most of the senior leaders of AAP are maintaining distance from Walia, he is now depending upon the support of the kids of the constituency, which could be evident from the photograph below:

Congress’ possible nominee from the Jalandhar Cantonment, Pargat Singh, who is also a sitting MLA from the constituency and represented SAD in the current assembly , but switched his loyalty towards Congress recently, is also facing revolt from his arch rival Jagbir Singh Brar, who is District (Rural) Congress President.

As far as political status of both Pargat Singh and Jagbir Brar is concerned, both are ‘turncoats’, as Brar also switched his loyalty twice before jumping in Congress in 2012.  Brar was elected MLA on SAD ticket from Jalandhar Cantonment in 2007 and resigned from the party to join his Cousin Manpreet Badal’s Peoples Party of Punjab (PPP) and ditched PPP at eleventh hour of assembly polls by joining Congress.

Brar has gone to the extent of threatening that if denied ticket, he would contest as Independent Candidate from Jalandhar Cantonment, if he does so, he would disturb the ‘political chemistry’ of the constituency and may emerge as ‘spoil sport’ for Congress.

Meanwhile, Congress is making its all out efforts to pacify Pargat as well as Brar to shift their candidature to adjoining constituency of Nakodar, but both of them refused to budge and have adopted the strategy of “Pehle aap, pehle aap” (You first).
